Changing the amount you reinvest in a new term deposit in the BNZ app

You can change what happens to your term deposit when it matures in the BNZ app and Internet Banking^.

When you’re within 14 days of your maturity date, you may be able to lock in a special interest rate in the BNZ app or through Internet Banking^. Special interest rates are available for selected terms only. You can also increase or decrease the amount you reinvest^

You’ll have the flexibility to come back and change what happens at maturity as often as you like, right up to the business day before your term deposit matures. 

How to increase the amount you invest at maturity

  1. Log in to the BNZ app.
  2. Select your term deposit account. 
  3. Select Change what happens at maturity
  4. Read the information on screen, select Next
  5. On the next screen, select Reinvest. 
  6. Select Set up your next term
  7. Select Increase. 
  8. Enter the amount you want to increase by. 
  9. Choose the account the extra amount will come out of, and select Next.
  10. Choose a reinvestment term, and select Next
  11. Choose how you’d like your interest to be paid. Either Add to your term deposit or Pay out to account
  12. Use the drop-down menu to select the frequency of your compound interest payment, and select Next.  
  13. Review the reinvestment details and select Save

How to decrease the amount you invest at maturity

  1. Log in to Internet Banking.
  2. Select your term deposit account. 
  3. Select Change what happens at maturity
  4. Read the information on screen, select Next
  5. On the next screen, select Reinvest. 
  6. Select Set up your next term
  7. Select Decrease
  8. Enter the amount you want to decrease by. 
  9. Choose which account you want your money to go to.
  10. Choose a reinvestment term, and select Next
  11. Now choose how you’d like your interest to be paid. Either Add to your term deposit or Pay our to account
  12. Select the drop-down menu to select the frequency of your compound interest payment, and select Next.  
  13. Review the reinvestment details and select Save
