Small Print

Lending criteria, terms and fees apply. Rates and fees are subject to change.

  1. BNZ Points are earned on eligible purchases, which exclude cash advances, balance transfers, interest charges, bank fees, gambling, betting or lottery transactions, unauthorised transactions for which you are not liable, transactions with securities brokers or dealers, transactions for cryptocurrency and contracts for difference.

  2. BNZ Points can be redeemed for cash back to any BNZ account that you can transfer funds to directly through Internet Banking or the BNZ app. If you’re making a cash back redemption to a credit card account, the cash back will not contribute to the minimum payment due, or the total minimum payment due on the credit card. A minimum of 200 BNZ Points (and multiples of 100 BNZ Points) must be redeemed. Any leftover BNZ Points stay in your account.

  3. To apply for a BNZ credit card through Internet Banking or the BNZ app, you’ll need to be a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident. You’ll also need to be 18 years or older and receiving an income of $15,000 or more per year.

  4. This rate is variable and can change at any time, including after you enter into your contract. BNZ will publicly announce any changes to variable interest rates. Changes take effect from the start of the next statement period.

  5. You must always pay the full current balance shown on each statement by the due date to take advantage of the interest-free days on purchases.  For more information, visit Understanding Interest Charges

  6. BNZ Advantage Visa Platinum – Credit Card Insurances (PDF 245KB) (‘Insurance’) is subject to the terms, conditions, exclusions (for example business travel, age limitations etc.) and eligibility criteria contained in the policy document. BNZ does not underwrite the Insurance, is not an agent of the Insurer, and does not guarantee the obligations of the Insurer. Premiums are payable for policy extensions such as pre-existing cover, duration extension and specified items.

  7. Cover for the excess you become legally liable to pay in the event your rental car is damaged or stolen during the rental and you paid for the rental using your Advantage Platinum Visa. Coverage is subject to the terms and conditions, including any applicable limitations and exclusions of the insurance policy.

  8. You’ll need the latest version of the BNZ app. If you can’t access BNZ Rewards, check to see if you have a compatible Apple or Android device. Internet access is required. BNZ Internet Banking terms and conditions apply. Maintenance is sometimes required.
